How to animate the files

In this short step-by-step tutorial, I’ll show you how it’s possible to animate a twitch overlay so that it permanently changes the color. For that you need:

An overlay (in PNG format) in different colors
OBS

Step 1: Create & organize overlays

There must be an overlay in different colors in transparent PNG format, so that one can still see the game behind. How many different colors are selected is not important, as long as there are at least two, so that the change is recognizable. The various image files of the overlay now need to be merged into one folder without any additional images.

In the animated overlays that are available here with us, this is already done in the folder “PNG” of the unzipped ZIP-File.

Step 2: Set the OBS

The OBS can be started after the overlays are in a folder. There, either a new scene is created or an existing one is selected in which the overlay appears. After selecting the appropriate scene, a “slideshow” is added by right-clicking and clicking “Add” in the Sources box. Now opens a new window with some settings, which we do not have to take into account. Important for us is mainly the first point “time between the pictures”, this indicates, in which interval the pictures of the overlays are to be changed. We recommend at least 5 seconds, because a fast color change, depending on the game, part can also very annoying. However, you can also test a little what suits you best. Now select the previously created folder via the “Add Folder” button. If all settings are ready, confirm this by pressing the “OK” button.

Step 3: Reviewing & testing the animated twitch overlays

The Twitch Overlay is now animated and changes its color. Because the slide show is smooth, the overlays are not changed jerky, but slow and hue appears between the color of the first overlay and the following overlay, which is a nice side effect. Now you have the possibility to change the speed. Please note that the overlay must always be above the actual gameplay, otherwise it will not be displayed.
